A BIOLOGIST AND AN ENGINEER WALK INTO A MARRIAGE…
We (Dan and Amanda) met and started dating in high school…many years ago…outside of Cincinnati, OH. We were both nature nerds at heart and would get out into the wild as often as possible. Dan, an Eagle Scout and student of survival, went on to gain a degree in computer science and engineering from The Ohio State University; Amanda, an equestrian, outdoorswoman, and lover of all things wild and wonderful, also attended TOSU for a B.S. in Agriculture, Animal Science, followed by a Master’s in Biology from Miami University, Oxford, OH, focusing on conservation. We own a small hobby farm in Ohio, with a Nokota horse (Sundance), Mediterranean mini-donkey (Remington), the Chickum (our flock of chickens), and Shiloh Shepherd sisters Olive and Minka.
As a team, we have developed a unique take on travel and adventure, focused on appreciation, respect, and logic, while maintaining a fun and adventurous spirit. We would love to share our adventures with you, and are looking forward to hearing about yours!
Tidbits:
Favorite animal: A) Bison (the coolest animal in North America); D) Marmot (a group is called a “madness,” seriously…); Favorite place we’ve visited: A) too hard to pick one; D) That’s a tough question…everything is different and unique; Best hike: A) Bryce Canyon backcountry Under-the-Rim – we hiked under a full moon and it was unbelievable; D) Salkantay to Machu Picchu, Peru – awesome views, food, and guides, but still with a rigorous experience; Worst hike: A) Maybe Union Falls in Yellowstone, because we didn’t really prep our supplies, started later in the day, and it was longer than anticipated (anxiety builder), but would have been one of the best days if we had prepped; D) Yeah, Union Falls, I hate not being prepared
Hobbies:
Both: Hiking, kayaking, cycling, farm life, Jeeps, travel; A) wildlife tracking, horses, research; D) homebrew, forestry, survivalism
